Can anyone advise me as to when I should be looking at partitioning tables?

Currently some of our tables vary between 5GB and 65GB in size, should I be looking at partitioning these to improve performance?

The database they reside in is around 130GB, should this also be split/partitioned?

Thanks for any guidance as I've never done this before.

Tables can be any size as long as you index properly.

Tables can be any size (And shouldn't affect performance) as long as you index properly. What type of indexes are you using on your columns?
