| Hello All BackgroundMy SQL Server is configured for sending a net send message to the client machines connected to it whenever it has successfully backed up.From the Win XP - clients i get the net send prompts always without any issuesISSUE Now since we have some client machines as MS VISTA Ultimate ,owing to the fact net send is longer present in vista, i wont get any notifications for these client machines.Could anyone tell me, how can i send net send notifications from SQL Server to such machines ??RegardsSrivatsa |

| start the net send service on the Vista machines . they could be disabled by default, or group policy or whatever. But why use netsend, why not an email or some other stuff.<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>If you don't have the passion to help people, you have no passion |

As i understand there is no such net send service available in VistaHow can i enable if its not there .The alternative it has is MSG.exeI just need to send NET SEND from SQL Server(WIN 2003 SERVER) --> Vista PC I dont have any issues using email .... but the official requirement is not to have an email notification but to have a net send notification.quote: Originally posted by yosiasz start the net send service on the Vista machines . they could be disabled by default, or group policy or whatever. | if there is no such service in Vista, I believe you can send from SQL but not receive the message. What happens when you manually send such a message to a Vista machine? One service has to be able to talk to the other service to deliver that message. Also net send with XP if the XP machine is down then that message will not be received by the XP machine. so like you said maybe there is some other type of messaging MSG.<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>If you don't have the passion to help people, you have no passion |
