I have been asked this and should know the answer, but I am cut to the quick. I have 2 servers, one accessing another across a network. Would that be TCP? OR HTTP? Or what protocol? I don't know too much about network terminology.

TCP/IP or Named Pipes. HTTP can be used for Service Broker communications but it is routed over TCP/IP.

We explicitly set TCP/IP and/or disable Named Pipes
