| Sri writes "Hi Everybody,We have upgraded our Application from Windows NT Server to Win2k Advanced Server and from MSSQL 6.5 to MSSQL 2000. After this upgrade we have installed Nwlink IPX/SPX Protocol and GSNW on the Win2k Server and have configured MSSQL 2000 to listen on to IPX/SPX Protocol via Server Network Utility. But when we try to connect to SQL Server via IPX Protocol either from the Server or Remote Client we are receiving the error "Unable to connect: SQL Server is unavailable or does not exist. Specified SQL Server not found.". Also IPX name is not broadcasted across network.Also we receive the following error in the Event Log."A SAP announcement was sent over \Device\NwlnkIpx which is configured for multiple networks, but no internal network is configured. This may prevent machines on some networks from locating the advertised service. "Please let us know if there is any additional configuration need to be done for MSSQL Server to Listen On via IPX/SPX. Also help us find solution to resolve this issue.RegardsSri" |

| Can you ping the server and get a response?To enable IPX routing, you must install the IPX protocol and Routing Information Protocol (RIP) for IPX. The Service Advertising Protocol (SAP) agent installs automatically when you install RIP. IPX addresses, routes, and switches information packets to move single packets from one location to another in an inter-network (with the help of RIP and SAP).
