We are in the process of troubleshooting connection problems across our VPN tunnel to one of our legacy SQL2000 db instances. We are able to verify that traffic is reaching the SQL2000 server, but our application is unable to establish a full SQL connection and properly allow the remote user to authenticate.

I'm a little hazy on the SQL2000 admin stuff, but is there a way within SQL2000 to prevent or allow clients to establish a connection to the db instance based source IP address or subnet? I am unable to locate anything other than the port SQL2000 will respond/listen to inside the SQL Server Network Utility.

It does not appear that SQL2000 has this capability. This topic should be considered closed.
