I'm currently working on Run Book for RDBMS and HTTPD Servers (and later on, all servers)

I've decided to start using one for the SQL Servers on our network. It started out as a Word document then the web and db developer in me told me to make it web based ;)

I've started working on the architecture and I'd love input. I plan to finish this project perhaps in 7 days and so a few things will no doubt be missing (replication information, extreme details). I plan to offer the run book freely (GPL) to DBAs (and write up an article about what i've learned) and I'm aiming it at small to medium businesses. I work for a firm that has more than 500 employees, and my application will satisfy our (non-replicating), non-VLDB needs. Although we are a MSFT and SQL Server shop, I'm planning to make the Run Book non-OS and non-RDBMS specific.

Some info that will be in the book application are...
Physical Server info (Administrator, CPU, #of CPUs, Memory, Physical Drives, Logical Drives, etc)
OS Info: Administrator, OS, Service Pack, Hotfixes
SQL Server info: Instance, Administrator, logins, jobs, databases, apps that use the database, etc
IIS Info: ports, SSL support, Webs, hostnames, home directories, etc.

Would anyone be interesting in helping?

I plan to auto populate as many tables as I can.. I've got SQL and/or VBS scripts for
net shares, DSNs (doesnt work), DTS Packages, DB Users, etc.
ALL IIS Settings (home dir, ports, etc)

I've got 95% of the db architecture done (about 30 tables or so) but would like some pointers on it..and also If anyone can help on the automation of filling in the information; I have alot of scripts to fill in the info, but there may be better ways to do things.

If there's feedback, I'll post more details.

sounds like your doing what I've been planning to get around to. I have a few scripts and ideas for some of these things. Contact me off-line if you want, I'd be keen to help work on something like this .
