I have a free web email account with:http://go4.it/index.htmthat allows you to coonect to your POP3 mail servers you have with other ISP's. So all you need is a hotel/airport/cafe that has internet. On devices I'm not sure cos I'm a UK resident.;-]... Quack Waddle |

Sam,I use T-mobile's WiFi Hotspots (primarily in Starbucks). They have 4 listed in Santa Barbara. This assumes he already has a laptop and has or will buy a WiFi card.If you're looking for devices, I know several people who swear by their Blackberry. There are also numerous Palm and Pocket PC PDAs with WiFi and web browsers.--------------------------------------------------------------Find more words of wisdom at http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/markc |

We are leaning toward buying a lightweight laptop for this trip. There's a lot of gear, it's not business related, but contact is important.Any thoughts on "really light or small" Windows XP laptops?Sam |

One of my associates has a small Gateway that is really lightweight. I'm guessing the screen is only 10". It fits inside a portfolio. If you can't wait that long for delivery, I think the Sony Vaio comes in a small, lightweight option.--------------------------------------------------------------Find more words of wisdom at http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/markc |

Problem is it's a committee (of 2) decision. I'd get the Blackberry myself. The other half of the committee wants Windows. It's warming up here in Maryland. How's the weather down there? |

Fair enough, thought it was worth a mention. The weather here is the opposite, funnily enough. Starting to get chilly. It's nice and sunny out, but not warm.May is usually about the coldest month in Sydney, especially at night.DamianEDIT : Duh, I just noticed Mark had already mentioned the blackberry... stupid me |

Look at the dell x300 (I thnk).Pentium M - shouldn't be much different from the big laptops.Sony do one at about half the weight but not as spec'd.If it's just email why not a handheld or cybercafe's/hotel services.==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |
