| I think Compact & Repair will reset the autonumber value to the highest used value + 1.If, instead, you are trying to get rid of gaps in the middle, I wouldn't bother unless you really, really have a compelling reason that it MUST be done. In which case, Rick's method of moving into another table would be handy.
