I think Compact & Repair will reset the autonumber value to the highest used value + 1.If, instead, you are trying to get rid of gaps in the middle, I wouldn't bother unless you really, really have a compelling reason that it MUST be done. In which case, Rick's method of moving into another table would be handy. But if the autonumber values are used elsewhere in the database, such as in a Foreign Key relationship, it will corrupt those links.-----------------------------------------------------Words of Wisdom from AjarnMark, owner of Infoneering |
