I am curious- on my Windows 2000 machine, when I run OSQL.exe it immediately connects to the SQLServer whether or not I have started SQLServer. On my Windows XP machine, when I run OSQL.exe it says [Shared Memory]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. In order for it to work, I need to start up SQL Server in a separate window.I installed both of the installations exactly the same way, why are they behaving differently? |

One is setup to start automatically and the other isn't or this other was stopped. Go to services in Admin Tools in Control Panel. Go to the MSSQLSERVER service and select automatic startup. If it's stopped, start it.Tara |
