| I need to manipulate text and ntext field in a trigger and cannot define local variables with these data type. How can I update these fields in a trigger? Thank you, TB |

| Also note that text/ntext/image columns can only be modified in an INSTEAD OF trigger, not a (regular) AFTER trigger. Books Online has more details under "CREATE TRIGGER". |
