I'm off too google, because my Access books are all at home..but, and it's been a long time, How do I get an access "app" to recogonize only a particular workgroup and no other workgroup (they're still called workgroups, right).

This is for Access 20000.

And I did not know this, and I only saw this today, but did you know you can open Access with notepad?

I nearly fell off my barstoo...um office chair....

Found it through google...

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnacc2k2/html/odc_AcSecurity.asp

But that's only through the wizard.

How do you do this manually?

You mean an MDB file? You can open any file with notepad, or even better something that lets you view binary file contents. You can open a MDF file with notepad, too.

AS for the workgroups, you log into the DB using that workgroup and then secure it. Once it is secure, it can only be opened with that workgroup.
