In the past I had created a database using MS Access for my LP Collection, I have since designed this in SQL Server, the tables are complete.

What I have done is created a web front end, after selecting an artist the results are displayed, from the results I would like to be able to play the track or tracks. In the database I have a track table consisting of track id, track title, track no, mp3 track.

How can you store MP3 in SQL Server.

Many thanks for your help

do not do it. it will bloat your database and complicate certain actions. follow the advice you were already given somewhere else and store the filepath and name of the file in the database.

putting the MP3 tracks into your database will also make your MP3s less portable. To move them to your ipod you'd have to extract them from the database first. THat is going to be a PITA.

Thankyou for your response, what would the filepath and name of the file look like in the table. Would it be a varchar or a an image.

Thanks
