I attempted to move my Model and msdb database files to a different drive on the server. I did the following: * Restarted SQL Server 2K with the -T3608 startup parameter* successfully detached msdb and model DBs * moved the msdbdata.mdf, msdblog.ldf, model.mdf and modellog.ldf files to their new homes* successfully reattached model and msdbWhen I take away the -T3808 startup parameter and restart SQL Server, I do not see the model database in the db list in enterprise manager and I get the following error when i try and query against the database using query analyzer: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'model'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly. What did I do wrong?

That's what I don't get. I read the article and did exactly what it said and now my Model DB is gone. I added -T3608 to startup parameters and restarted SQL Server. detached Model, moved files to new location and then reattached Model. When I do sp_helpfile on Model I get this error: "Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'model'. No entry found with that name" and sure enough.. when I do a Select * on sysaltfiles in Master - Model is missing~!

did you move model before you moved msdb? I think you need to move msdb prior to model otherwise some weirdness might occur.we have an article here on this problem http://www.sqlteam.com/item.asp?ItemID=10060-ec

Thank you so much. I knew I was missing something stupid. I reattached msdb BEFORE model when I first moved the file. I detached msbd then reattached Model and msdb (in that order) and everything is back to normal. Thank you so much.!!!
