pitter writes "Hi all !

I €™ve just installed sql server 2000 +sp3, and wanted to work on my pc, as a database server,
In the enterprise manager, I choose the option :

- new sql server registration (under Microsoft sql srvers)

then in the register sql server wizard, I choose my machine €™s name as a server,

in the end of the wizard session I €™ve got the message :

<machine €™s name..> -SQL server does not exist or access denied. Connectionopen (Connect)

I used windows authentication as login.

I really don €™t know what to do and why sql server 2000 don €™t know how to recognize my computer as a server

if anyone can help...
Regards,

pitter"

Hi pitter, Welcome to SQL team!

You should be able to use "local" (or possibly "localhost" or even ".") as the machine name if its local to where Enterprise Manager is running/installed.

I'm impressed that you've managed to trademark the Euro!
