Hello,

I've tried searching the forum to see if anyone has experienced this problem already but I can't find anything relating to it.

I have a Windows 2000 Server (DC) with MS SQL 2000 SP3 installed. I'd like basically to use the rpting features of SQL,but I can't seem to get them going:

My server does not have a Microsoft Exchange Server attached to it, I only have Outlook on my server.

I'd like to use SQL Server in conjuction with Microsoft Outlook to send notification e-mails.

This is how I have setup my Outlook:

1.) Setup in Corporate/Workgroup Mode
2.) Created Internet Mail acct
3.) Added an contact in my Outloook Address book called SMJSERVER and configured it with the correct info.
4.) Tested INet mail account.

SQL Server side of things:

1.) Added a new Operator called SMJSERVER
2.) Went to e-mail name section hit the ... and it pulled from my Outlook Address book which is correct, I then selected the SMJSERVER contact.
3.) I hit the test button, and it will send a test msg to the user, I hit Ok
4.) Upon hitting ok I recved this msg:

Error 22022: SQLServerAgent Error: The SQLServerAgent mail session is not running; please check the mail profile and or/ the SQLServer Agent service startup account in the SQLServerAgent properties dialog.

I know my SQLServer Agent is running.. So I am lost as to what to do now..

When I click on the Notofications Tab and I click Operator is able to reciveve notifications, and I click Send E-mail. Microsoft Outlook launches with a predefined e-mail and all I have to do is click send and it goes through and I get it.

But I don't understand why I am getting this error.
