| Mar writes "I am new to this SQL server thing and I have a project in school where we need to suggest ways to store multimedia database that can be accessed via network LAN or wireless LAN.Am I looking for the right software, this SQL server thing? Would it support the list of specs below? Thank you very much, I hope you can help me here.V. Project SpecificationsA. Scope of WorkThe proposed business solution must provide the multimedia faculty with a means to archive their students’ projects. It should also be flexible enough to connect to the existing LAN.The scope of the project is limited to the information system that will allow DISCS to archive the said projects. Although there is an already existing network, part of the project is to specify how the system will connect to the existing network. The proposed system must also be good, meaning no hardware upgrades, for the next 2 years. B. Functional requirements:1. User InformationTo access the application, every faculty must be issued a USERNAME and PASSWORD, which will serve as an identification key to the system. 2. Projects classification The application must allow for a customizable classification for the different projects. It should, for example, allow the user to view the projects by format (pictures, video, webpages, etc.) or by class (cs 175, cs 179.3, cs 179.4, etc)3. Project searchThe application must allow for the user to search for a particular project whether by a particular topic, or format, or the students who made them.4. Project Upload The application should allow faculty members to upload the multimedia projects. The users should have the option to do it via the wireless or the wired LAN.5. Project Download and ViewingThe application should allow the faculty members to download or view the multimedia projects via the wireless or wired LAN. " |
