If there is a command-line utility that can get that information, you can use xp_cmdshell to run it in T-SQL:

EXEC master..xp_cmdshell 'getHardDriveSerialNo c:'

You can also use the SQL Server job system to execute ActiveX and command-line tasks as well. I don't know much about WMI but I think you can run WMI scripts via ActiveX and/or command-line utilities. Other than that, I'm not aware of any internal SQL Server functions to get hardware specifics.
