If your class materials tells you to use DUMP DATABASE or DUMP TRANSACTION, and this is an MS SQL Server class, you should tell the school their material is extremely out-of-date. They might be in need of class material and/or professorship upgrades immediately. Service packs usually aren't enough to solve this by themselves.
