Could I updated the syscolumns table in SQL Server 2005?

I would like to change the Default value of a bit column, which exists in 100 tables in the database. I try to update the syscoulmns table an dIt doesn't allow me.

Could you help me?

Do NOT update the system tables just to change a default value!!! Use ALTER TABLE!

Never, ever update the system tables. Always use the system stored procedures or commands that allow you to get the data updated. I haven't had to update system tables since SQL Server 7.0 or maybe even 6.5.

In fact it's such a bad idea to update the system tables that in SQL Server 2005 they are completely inaccessible, which is why you are not finding syscolumns.
