this might sound dumb or impossible, but is there a way to run exec commands forcing them to not return results

From where? Front end application or Query Analyzer or SSMS?

What's the purpose?

If you are executing Insert/update/delete commands with SET NOCOUNT ON, no output is returned anyway. If you are using SELECT inside EXEC and still don't want output to be returned, then it doesn't make sense.

So what is that you want to do?
