Env.: SQL 2005 on Win2003

I am a DBA and I have a SQL Server 2005 license for each server. To manage the servers, I want to install SQL Server 2005 on my local desktop. Do I need a license for it as well?

Thanks,

Canada DBA

Well I did that with my Free copy I got from the launch...this is not a good thing as SQL Server will eat up all the memory and your desktop will run very slowly

Brett,

Free copy? Do you mean SQL Server Management Studio Express? Is it enough for DBA activities?

No at the Launch in NYC they handed out free licenced copy of SQL Server 2005 Standard edition with Visual Studio...not only was it good to get out of the orifice it was cool to listen to the seminars and talk to some of the guru's

But you should only install it on a machine for that purpose only...I loaded express once and that wasn't too bad
