huh?one advantage of putting data in a database is that you can query it efficiently. It's difficult to query a flat file efficiently - you pretty much have to scan the file.but if you are a dba as your name indicates you should know this already... www.elsasoft.org |

Homework question? How many marks?I can think of one big advantage...I don't care how/where data is stored by SQL Server. I just need to care about what data is being stored.Harsh AthalyeIndia."The IMPOSSIBLE is often UNTRIED" |

Why do you want to store it somewhere in the first place aside from being a flat file? Isn't the flat file enough? Your answer in the first question is the list of business need you are trying to meet.By the way, if you only need to compress/encrypt the file, you need Winzip, WinRAR or ARJ and not SQL Server.Hope that helps.May the Almighty God bless us all!www.empoweredinformationsystems.com |
