HelloI am considering taking an on-line course in SQL, such as...http://www.transcender.com/product.aspx?product%5Fid=Pak%2DMCDBACORE&dept%5Fid=100403I do not work with SQL but I do have good computer knowledge and experience of MS Access and visual basic. Would it be plausible for me to complete such a creditation without the work experience or is it asking too much? I have a lot of time to focus on it at the minute. Does anyone have any knowledge of this particular company or can you recommend a better one? Also, is there any way I could complete this course on a Mac (pre intel)?Any help/info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Why you are planning to spend money on this. So many e-books are available on SQL server and just learning will not help ,parallelly u should have hands-on.Once u feel comfortable then take exam. This is my opinion.

'Why you are planning to spend money on this. So many e-books are available on SQL server and just learning will not help ,parallelly u should have hands-on'Well I was considering spending money on this as I would like to learn SQL. How do you suggest I get experiance in SQL when I don't work in that field as I said? I thought this particular site looked useful as it involves a e-learning course, test exams, microsoft creditation and gaurantee.'note that this is a certification for SQL Server 2000 and not 2005.consider taking the new MCITP Exams:http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcitp/default.mspx'Thanks for that pbguy. Apart from cost, are there any advantages to doing it this way over the e-learning course (2005 version)? Does the 'transcender' style learning have any drawbacks (apart from not being hands on)? How long do you think it would take to becoming competant enough to pass this exam? Obviously hard for you to say but I can dedicate alot of time to it.Thanks again

if you haven't done any work with sql then i'd say a rule of thumb for 70-431 exam would be a month._______________________________________________Causing trouble since 1980blog: http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/mladenp

Excellent, thanks again Spirit1.If I could do that in a month I would be very happy. I think I will just buy a beginners book and plough through it.Finally, can anyone recommend a suitable book for beginners that's tailored toward passing such exams? |
