| We run SQL Server 2000 and Cognos BI 8 on a Windows 2000 Server std (32bit) with 2 Gb RAM and the performance is lousy. We have decided to purchase a new server and install a 64bit operating system on it, but we have no idea what to look at, which configuration works best? Should we upgrade to SQL Server 2005 and may there be som differences there (Compability errors with DTS-jobs and so on)?Cognos BI 8 is 32 bit, will there be any problems to run this against a 64 bit sql server?¨The questions are many, but It would help if you can post some of your hardware and software configurations so that I can compare. Thanks in advance. |

| There is no problem let 32-bit app access 64-bit sql server. Most server manufactories have server spec tool on their web site, try it. |
