Okay, so i've downloaded and installed an eval copy of sql2005. but i'm a bit lost. if i were
Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer where would i be?

these are tools i use EVERY day... no way they removed them.

Enterprise Manager in 2000 is SQL Server Management Studio. Query Analyzer is merged into SQL Server Management Studio

You can't use Enterprise Manager to manage a 2005 server but you still can use Query Analyser to connect to SQL Server 2005.

You can still use QA against SQL2005, but not EM.
