Dear Folks,
how can i know the datetime format of my current session? and is it possible to change that to required format permanently for that particular database?

Yes to first and No to second.

You can see the dateformat by using DBCC USEROPTIONS command.

And if you use front end application, do formation there
Also make sure that you use DATETIME datatype
