hi pals ,

i m new to this sql server administration ... for last couple of days i m having prob while creating new sql server registration ... here what we have


in our server we r running sql server 2003 and in our clients sql 2000 server personal edition ...and our server os is 2003 server

and here is the error msg which we r getting

sql server does not exist or access denied
connection open (connect())

how to overvome this ...any suggestions

Can you ping the server? Is sql service running on the server? Did you give correct sql instance name and id/pwd?

ya i gave evrything right and even service is running ..still that problem is popping evrytime ....i came across a solution for same problem in microsoft knowledge base ...where they have asked to upgrade sql server 2000 to sp3 in order to run in 2003 server environment ....but i dnt think that it comes handy in this situation .....any other approaches ...

You need at least sp3.
