My lead has asked me to come up with a way to know when we are low on disk space. In the past, I've done similar things by extracting info from the system logs and bulk inserting it, but this is something new to me.

Can SQL report on operating system or hardware specs?

Check out xp_fixeddrives to see free disk space for the drives on the database server.

And with that answer + a little googling, I have exactly what I need.

Thank you, Tara!
