| hey guys.. I currently using SQL SERVER 2000 AND WINDOWS XP. I am in doubt that this operating system is not very fast for my server. I need your advice whether I going to change my OS to windows 2003. I am searching for some advantages and disadvantages of using windows 20003 please give me some links thanks.. .TCC |

| You should go for a server operating system. In this case Windows Server 2003. Install SQL Server 2000 and apply Service Pack 4.Peter LarssonHelsingborg, Sweden |

| - also depends on what you are going to do with it (for example: clustering?) and what you are willing to pay for the licenses (standard <-> enterprise)- also consider 32-bit as opposed to 64-bit |

| in our place sql 2005 cost almost same as building a new house.. hahahah.. very expensive.. i dont how when i will be able to buy that server.. i think its still better to use sql 2000.. i bought sql 2000 just lately it doesnt cost that much.. :)TCC |

| lol :)well, if you don't have specific reasons for 2005 I would also stick to 2000. Does the job well. Of course, support for 2000 will end sometime...If you need clustering and sql 2000 you will need the enterprise edition.Clustering is supported in 2005 standard (2 nodes) |

| If you run sql2k on win xp, means you use either msde or developer edition. Then you can replace them with sql2k5 express (free) or sql2k5 developer edition. |

| Depending on what your apps require. Since you're on XP most likely using only a desktop, stick with your sql2000 pe or msde, otherwise, when your app requires that of sql2005 new functionalities, go with sql2005 express edition. Pinoy here too.Donn Policarpio |
