Database is about 60GB, full recovery model. Maintenance plan set to the default schedule of daily transaction log backup (except Sunday) and weekly full backups.During the full backup, the transaction log grows from 1.3GB to over 40GB.Anybody want to venture a guess as to why? |

Is the backup occurring at the same time as a heavy load of transactions? |

Shouldn't be, activity seems pretty light at the time, no DTS packages scheduled at that time. I'm going to try and move the backup to a few hours earlier. It's very consistent, growing the same amount at the exact same time every week. |

Do you rebuild index before backup? |
