| We are using Navision with SQL server 2003.What kind of methods is there out there to reduce hwo often this happens? |

By contacting the producer of NAVision and tell them to write better code You don't tell us if it is the "out of the box" modules that faults, or some hands-on modifications that faults. E 12°55'05.25"N 56°04'39.16" |

| Yes but we use another company that has designed it for us the way we need it.Surely this is SQL optimazation though? Maybe your just Linux/UNIX/FreeBSD zealots? |

Almost same locking algorithms goes for all RDBMS systems. E 12°55'05.25"N 56°04'39.16" |

Mostly I see this at clients site where they overuse the IN, or NOT IN, keyword.When I change it to LEFT JOIN, INNER JOIN, EXIST, NOT EXIST, the problem goes away. E 12°55'05.25"N 56°04'39.16" |
