 Do we need to backup system database?

I found out our system backup system database every week, which occupy a lot of space. Is it necessary?

Yes since they store all server level data like logins, jobs and so. By the way, system dbs usually are smell and should take much space.

Yes you should back up your system databases. The only system database that you do not need to back up is the Temp DB. That database gets re-created every time the SQL Server Service gets re-started.
