I have a process on the server that I cannot kill off.
Even a restart doesn't get rid of it so any ideas on what this is/caused by?

Is it sp_who2 by any chance?

run dbcc inputbuffer(spid) to find out.

It's your own process from EM, close EM and then do an sp_who2 in QA and see if it disappears.

When you run sp_who2, if that is the only SELECT INTO you see, then it is your own process. If it isn't the only process, do you have AV running on your data directory? If so, then it will be this process. It is not recommended practice as it will slow your SQL queries down and as the .mdf and .ldf files are always open, there is no need for AV to be running.

That is the only SELECT INTO but I have no idea what the process could be or where it is running from on my system?
What is AV?

So, no way of knowing what this is then as it is the only process and seems to be coming from my computer?

Yes you are, you just don't realize it. You must realize that when you click around in Enterprise Manager that it is running commands. And SELECT INTO is one of them.

Then some other connection that you have is running it.

Why do you even care to kill it? What problem is it causing? I already know the answer, so this is more of a rhetorical question.
