I have a database on SQL Server 2000. I took a full back up of the database but the transaction log backup (ltf file) is still showing as 25 GB. I re ran the full backup with no luck. Please help: How can I reduce the size of the ltf file?Thank you. |

I'm not familiar with an ltf as the file extension. But the key is that you either need to start performing transaction log backups or switch your recovery model to SIMPLE. Do you require point in time recovery in case of a restore?Running full backups does nothing to the transaction log and especially the transaction log backup (in terms of size that is).Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |
