Hi, i need to send emails from sql server. to configure the setting i need to open database mail configuration windows right? But i dont have database mail icon or tab under management folder. I only have archieve under server roles. Help me.. Urgent.Thanks

Are you in sql2k5? Sql2k5 express doesn't have db mail.

1) Tell your network guys to install SMTP in your server if you don't have any.

2) Go to SQL surface area config - Enable Database Mail.

3) Configure outlook express or any mail services and test.

4) Go to Sql Server agent properties and enable database mail

5) Go to management- Database mail- Configure database mail

6) setup profile( Let me know if any probs)

7) You have to restart SQL server agent if you are running any jobs and sending email.

SQL 2005 Express edition doesn't Support SQL Server agent.
