After seven years of a love hate relationship with allowing unregistered users to submit questions to the site I think it's time to retire this functionality. In the early days it really helped the site grow and provided an easy way to get questions and topics for articles. Lately I've noticed

  • We get lots of spam through this.

  • The volume of questions just keeps going up. This takes time to review every question and place it in the proper forum.

  • The quality of questions isn't very good.

  • It rarely leads to a good solution. People post a question but don't login to provide any required clarifications.

So I think it's time to finally retire the Ask SQLTeam page.

You could install an Eliza to answer the ASKSQLTeam questions - and publish the Q & A log in the Yak forum ....

I've thought of that. Compiling it would be a PAIN though. I'm going to start putting the last batch of questions in the forum today and tomorrow. So one more big push and then it's done.

Yikes. There were a lot more than I thought in there. It may take me all week to get through them.

Well folks, that's all of them. There aren't any more questions left in the Ask SQLTeam.
